The New Entry block is a neat way to add contacts to already existing and active Flows.
- From the Flow block library, drag & drop the New entry block to the Flow canvas.
- Connect it to another block like a communication one.
- Hover over the New Entry block to see the settings and delete button.
- Click on the Settings button to see the Flow ID.
Tip: If you are unsure whether to use the New Entry or the Contacts block, read our helpful article to find out which of the two suits you best.
The New entry block can be used in three different ways.
- Contacts app: +Add to campaign button
- Add to campaign block
- Trigger through API
Contacts app: +Add to campaign button
Your campaign with the New entry block must be set to active so that you can add contacts.
- Go to the Contacts app.
- Click on a contact and then click on the +Add to campaign button.
- A list is displayed with all the active campaigns that contain the New entry block.
- Choose the campaign and click Add.
or
- Select multiple contacts (you can select more with holding shift).
- From the drop-down menu, you click the +Add to campaign button.
- The same list will appear with all the active campaigns that contain the New entry block.
- Choose the campaign and click Add.
Add to campaign block
The Add to campaign block is used in correlation with the New entry block. Those two go together like peanut butter and jelly. You need at least two Flows for this.
In campaign no.1:
- Drag & drop the New entry block into the Flow campaign where you want to add the contacts.
- Connect it to another block like a communication one.
- Activate the campaign.
- Go to the campaign from which you wish to add contacts.
In campaign no. 2:
- Drag & drop the Add to campaign block to the Flow canvas.
- Connect it to another block. It has to get the contacts somewhere.
- Click on the settings button and choose the flow (campaign no.1) with a new entry block in which you want to add the contacts.
- Activate the campaign.
In this scenario, the contacts from the campaign no.2 will enter the already activated campaign no.1
Trigger through API
You can also add contacts to the New entry block through our API.
- Activate your campaign with the New entry block.
- Go to the right endpoint in our API to trigger it. Make sure you click the authorize/padlock button to log in and get access.
- Click Try it out.
- Copy/paste the flow ID.
- In the JSON you can include the contacts IDs or the segment that the contacts are a part of.
Tip: You can group the needed contacts using the smart segments, and export your contacts from the segment and then from the file you can copy their contact IDs and paste them to your JSON.
- Click the Execute button.
- If everything is in order the HTTP Status Code should be 200.
- After you get a 200 HTTP Status Code, go back to the Flow. That's it.
If you deactivate or freeze the flow campaign you can't trigger the New entry block.
Note: You can use the New entry block in test mode first if you need to test it without having to go live.
Tab reports
The summary of the tab reports can be previewed after activating the flow campaign. In an active flow, hover over the block, click the settings button and access the New Entry block reports through the reports tab. Here you can see how many Unique contacts have arrived:
- from Flow or
- from Contacts App and API
There is also a date picker where you can select a specific date range and see the data for the selected period. The pre-set date range is All time.
Note: You can still access the tab reports even after deactivating the flow.
That's it. Let the Flow do its job. Marketing automation at its finest. Instead of creating another campaign for these new contacts, you simply add them to the already existing campaign. What a time saver! Go ahead and read about the other Campaign entry blocks.
