You'll notice that you can only 'view' some of your campaigns and you can't edit them. It doesn't matter if this is an Email, a Page, a Print, or an SMS campaign. There are two reasons why this can happen.
Used in Flow
The reason why campaigns used in a Flow can't be edited is simple - to avoid a disaster. Imagine having an active Flow with a newsletter, a sign-up page, and a postcard that you made. If these campaigns are editable, each time you edit and save a campaign your customers will receive the last version of the saved campaign. 😱
It doesn't necessarily mean that the Flow was activated. Even when you add a campaign to a Flow using the Flow blocks and then delete or not save the Flow, you will still only be able to 'view' the campaign because it is part of that Flow.
However, if you need to edit such a campaign, there are two ways to do this:
- If you want to use this campaign in a Flow - copy it to the Flow through its block and then edit it from there. Go to the block settings and then click the Edit button. Remember that this option will be disabled when the Flow is live/activated.
- If you only want to send this campaign separately and not through a Flow - you can duplicate the campaign (this will make an identical copy of it) and then edit the duplicate and send it. Just hover over the campaign and click the duplicate button.
Campaign ownership
It's as simple as it sounds. Only the 'Owner' or 'Admin' can edit the campaign (learn more about account roles). So if you are on an account as a 'User' you can only 'View' the campaign but not edit it. Also if you want to edit a campaign from an 'Owner' or another 'Admin' you can't do that unless you change the ownership. Hover over the campaign, click on the arrow and get your ownership. 😉
Note: Users can't change the ownership, only Owners and Admins can do so.
