When you are working in the email or pages editor, the Hide and Show functionality of the modules allows you to control which elements within a module (like text, images, buttons) are displayed based on your preferences.
If you want to change only one element (or more) in the module to be hidden and in that way to be customized as you imagined it to be, we have the Hide Elements functionality or Hide and Show. This allows for some super-unique combinations in the design you create.
To access these modules, you need to click on the Add more modules+ button at the top of the module library and once the window with the modules pops up you can select and insert any modules.
Here, the dynamic modules with the hide elements can be recognized by them having the crossed eye symbol at the top right corner next to them.
Click to select the desired module and click on the Insert button to add the module in the library.
Once the module is there you need to drag and drop it to the template.
When you click on the module in the library, the module settings open and here you can find the Hide Elements settings.
To hide any element, you need to switch the toggle option and lock the setting (this will hide the element from the placed module).
Once the setting is locked, it can no longer be adjusted when the module settings are opened by clicking the placed module and the placed module will only show the unlocked settings.
Tip: an unlocked setting changed from a placed module always has priority. If you hide the image from a placed module but the setting (toggle) of the same module is not switched on in the module library - the image will be hidden because placed module settings > module library settings.
This also means that if you're changing a setting in the module library and don't see an instant change in the placed modules, it must mean that the setting is unlocked and the placed module setting is taking advantage.
If you want a detailed explanation of the locking and unlocking settings and how they work make sure to read our article.
You can also create a duplicate of a module of your choice and make the duplicate module stand out by changing any elements in it.
Note: If you remove the duplicate from the module library, you will also remove it from the template. But, if you remove the duplicate module from the template, this won't delete it from the module library.
And if you don’t want to make changes to the modules every time you want to share the template with your branches and want to save your customized changes to your original module you can do that with the Save content to root module button.
- Click on the placed module and select the module settings. The settings for the selected module will appear from the left side of the editor.
- Click on the advanced settings and click on the Save content to root module button.
- You need to confirm this change by clicking Yes.
Now the content is successfully updated for the selected module.
This way you will be able to create your own content and use it, re-use it, duplicate it or share it with your branches.
Try out some combinations and see how it goes!
