When you spend a lot of your precious time crafting the perfect email, you want your recipients to receive it and interact with it, right? What if your email ends up in the 'promotion tabs' or worse, in the spam folder? The solution is whitelisting, and this is just one more step to stay away from the spam folder.
What is whitelisting?
Email whitelisting means adding an email address to the approved senders' list. To clarify it, whitelisting is the opposite of blacklisting or spam. This is just one colossal step closer to the user's inbox! Whitelisting your sender by the recipient is basically them saying, "I think your content is valuable for me, and I want to see it in my inbox." And that's a pretty huge deal.
Why whitelisting is important?
You will get improved deliverability and improved results for your marketing campaign. Since you are on the whitelist, your email will land in the recipient's inbox, and they are more likely to see it and interact with it.
Whitelisting is also important because it means you're doing the most for your emails to reach the inbox.
But how to ask your subscribers to whitelist you?
You can add a P.S section in your email. This means when people read your email, they don't usually remember every little detail. That's why it's nice if you introduce a P.S section at the end of your email. Since it's placed right at the finish of your email, it's more likely to catch even a scanner's eye. Something in the lines of "You can add our email address to your contacts, and our emails won't get lost." Also, add some instructions on how a user can whitelist, keep it short, and even include a little humor to lighten up those clicks for whitelisting.
